Flora, restoration and propagation

We help bring back coastal native scrub and forest using plants of local provenance.

What we do

We carry out surveys and characterisations of the native flora present in the territory, identifying the species and populations that matter for guiding conservation and restoration work. Where the conditions and objectives of each initiative allow, we work with plant material of local provenance, taking into account its origin and the ecological characteristics of the site. Propagating native species and later establishing them can help recover plant cover, support the conservation of local populations and maintain part of the genetic diversity associated with them.

Methods

Native flora surveys

We go out into the field to identify and record native plant species, documenting their presence and the characteristics of the sites where they occur. This information builds our picture of the territory's flora and guides conservation and restoration work.

Seed collection

We collect seed from native species in local populations and record its provenance, keeping the site of origin of the collected material identified.

Propagation

We propagate the native species collected using a range of techniques, producing plants for conservation and restoration work in the territory.

Restoration and follow-up

We establish native plants at sites prioritised for restoration and follow their establishment and growth in the field, taking into account the particular conditions of each site.

What it produces

Native plants propagated from seed of local provenance, sites undergoing restoration, and field monitoring of plant survival and establishment.
